This paper analyzes the patterns in which Arabic loanwords enter Hispanic Medieval Latin. Implemented variables are: genre (historiography vs. documentary texts), lexical integration (frequency of use) and morphological assimilation (proportion of declined loanwaords), all of them from both diachronic and synchronic points of view. Finally, here is proposed a new model of integration, based on the idea of a diastratic continuum between Roman and Latin languages, which provided to each writer a way to choice a particular stylistic level for each text according to his or her own grammatical knowledge and the specific contextual conditions.
